Final post - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

There is much to write and much to catch up one.  I would say that I have been busy, and that's somewhat true.  But I've been lazy and have been contemplating a move to a new blog... and that's what I'm gonna do.  I'm in the process of moving all my older entries over to blogger.  I will post the new link when I'm finished and I publish the blog.  There are just too many things that I don't like here... and I'm sorta ready to let go of my hotmail account as well.

ANYWAY.  Let's rewind a couple weeks.  We were in the mountains.  Grace kept getting sick and then feeling better and then getting sick.  After a few weeks of this I finally took her to the doctor.  They suggested that we run an allergy test on her as a starting point.  So that's what we did.  The test came back that she has a class three allergy to eggs (the class is 1-3, 3 being the highest) a class 2 allergy to wheat and dairy and a class 1 allergy to peanuts.  The doc was most concerned about the eggs.  So we eliminated the eggs from her diet.  In a little over a week she gained .8 pounds and her skin cleared up a lot.  So we limit her dairy and wheat intake and have eliminated the eggs.  That's the good news.  The bad news is her iron dipped lower.  Sigh.  We already give her vitamin with iron and she eats tons of foods that are high in iron (sans eggs) but nevertheless it has dipped.  They just want her back for a finger prick in 3 months.  Sigh.  Her stats are 20.8 pounds (25%) 30 inches long (25-50%) and her head is in the 50-75%.  All around healthy.  She was really good with her shots and Elijah gave her little pats.  She has been weaned since the beginning of the month.... but that's another post.  she also has cut two of her molars which was a surprise to me since she hasn't even gotten her four bottom teeth yet!  She never lets us look in her mouth (though she loves getting her teeth brushed) so we had no clue!  poor little bit, teething and we thought it was for the little front bottom teeth trying to come in!

Let rewind again for a minute.  When we came back from the mountains we hung out with a friend at a park and Elijah was having fun jumping from a platform onto me.  That's all well and good, until he jumped before I was ready and his head came smashing into my face.  It hurt.  Bad.  sigh.  Fast forward to last week.  My tooth started hurting.  Not too bad.  Just a little throbbing.  I thought, great, I'm going to have to get it canaled again (already had a root canal twice on this tooth.)  So I got an appointment for today.  So Jerry took half a day and I went in.  Sigh. SO I went in.  I got an xray and it turns out that it's a BREAK.  the inside of my tooth is broken.  It is below the bone, so it has to be removed and bridge has to be inserted.  Sigh.  It's going to cost a ton of money and the whole thing just sucks.  Sigh.  I just can't think about it too much.  It really stresses me out.  I hate getting a cavity filled, I don't really like my cleanings, this is not going to be my idea of a fun day by any means.  Not to mention the time Jerry will have to take off of work.  But we'll make it work and then hopefully (knock on a whole forest of wood) we will be done with the teeth issues for a while.

So this is it.  I guess it's the actually the next to the last post.  I'll post my new site once I publish it.

i don't wanna go back

the weather is perfect here.  i love the mountains.  it is hot in wilmington.  the beach? eh.  sigh.
the time here has been really good.  i've gotten to hang with friends and family.  we've played in the creek and the "mushroom pool".  we've hiked the arboretum and played frisbee in the drive way.  elijah has become more independant and has become less afraid of the water.  grace tells stories that no one can understand verbally, but with her gestures and her inflections, it is easy to follow along with what she says.  i got a new tatoo designed by my friend laura and done by my friend galen.  my parents awesomely have watched and entertained the kids several times and even got them to go to sleep without me.  it was so nice to be out and not have to worry about the kiddos.  i went go kart riding with old high school friends and it was great (except for the massive headache i ended up with.)  it was fun to think back on high school and laugh about it.
if jerry weren't on the coast, i would have even a harder time going back.  the only thing that was bad about this trip was jerry wasn't here.  i miss him so much it hurts.  i will be glad he will be here tomorrow.  i really wish there was a job available here.  i think we would honestly move in a minute.  sigh.  alas.
there are more things to write, but i have some things i have to get done tonight.  when we get back to the heat of the coast, i will post pics and blog some more.  i leave by wishing you  a happy 4th of july!

Ahhh, the mountains

It's been a while.  I'm at my folks house in the mountains and I'm super glad to be away from the heat of the coast.  While it is still warm here, 90 degrees here is ALLOT different that 90 degrees on the coast.  So far, we've been fairly relaxed.  We've played in the creek and discovered a GREAT pool, spent time with my friend Laura and riden bikes, hung with Oma and Opa and walked through the forest.  Overall, very nice time.  The sleeping has been rough, but new place and whatnot.  We are all missing Jerry, but we'll see him next week.
We started out in Charlotte at Jerry's sister's vow renewal.  It was a very nice, simple, cermeony.  The kids had fun staying in a hotel and we had a nice time visiting with family.  My folks came down for the ceremony and the kids and I went back with them.
I have to say that facebook has allowed me to connect with people from high school that I haven't seen in 15 years.  It's been nice (for the most part) but still at arm's length.  Laura and I have been friends since 5th grade.  Our friendship has withstood the test of time and distance.  From all the people I went to high school with, she is the only one that I have kept in real contact with.  She is not on facebook (though she should be....hehehehehe!)  However, I relay stuff to her that I find.  Tonight we met for dinner and I invited a mutal friend of ours.  IT WAS AWESOME!  Time changes people...well, one can hope.  I mean you have to grow right?  Some people tend to grow in a direction I don't understand, but ya know.  Anyway, we hung out and it was good.  We all seemed comfy in our lives and with each other.  Facebook as a whole is a really cool idea.  I do get annoyed at everyone publishing the results of EVERY test they take, but I filter them out.  I do however, (sorta) wish, that if you get ignored they the ignorer would have to state a reason.  I'm SO curious about why this one person ignored me.  Whatever, but ya know...
There is more to say, but I'm tired and this weekend will be busy.  I will wait and post pics when I get home.

An anatomy lesson by Elijah

Last night at the dinner table Elijah started pointing to my and naming body parts, so I started pointing to them and he kept on naming them:

eyes, ears, teeth, tongue, lips, nose, chin, forehead, shoulder, elbow, knee, toes... we were giggling and I thought that we were all done.  I said, "Good naming Elijah!"  He said, "Thanks mom!"  We started eating again.  Elijah suddenly looks at me and points to my chest and yells, "MOMMY'S MILK!!"  Jerry and I started laughing!  It was priceless!  I'm really glad we were at home, though being out may have made it even funnier!
